Experimental and Computational Evaluation of 1,2,4-Triazolium-Based Ionic Liquids for Carbon Dioxide Capture

Utilization of ionic liquids (ILs) for carbon dioxide (CO2) capture is continuously growing, and further understanding the factors that influence its solubility (notably new ILs) crucial. Herein, CO2 absorption two 1,2,4-triazolium-based ILs was compared with imidazolium-based Ils different anions, namely bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, tetrafluoroborate, glycinate. The capacity determined using an isochoric saturation method predicted employing COnductor-like Screening Model Real Solvents (COSMO-RS). To gain effects cations anions on solubility, molecular orbitals energy levels were calculated TURBOMOLE. Triazolium-based exhibit higher when to same anions. results also showed anions’ are more determinant towards than cations’ levels, which can be explained by tendency accept electrons donate them.
